Our Building – A Historic Stamford Landmark Reimagined

Core Vet Animal Hospital proudly calls home one of Stamford’s most historic landmarks — the former Fire Station No. 2 at 670 Pacific Street.

1900

1900s

Originally built in the early 1900s, the station served the Stamford community for nearly a century.

1950

1954

In 1954, its original three arched doorways were replaced with two wide, flat-top bays to accommodate modern fire trucks — a visible mark of its long service history.

2000

2002

The station closed in 2002 due to disrepair. As the oldest active building in the city’s fire department, it witnessed generations of firefighters come through its doors, evolving over time as the city grew.

2010

2017

After years of vacancy and structural decline, the building was nearly lost to demolition. In 2017, it was purchased and structurally restored by Building and Land Technology (BLT), preserving its distinctive brick façade and architectural character.

2023

2023

Drawing on their background in real estate development and design, Dr. Xander Simunek and Andrew Kilbourn completely reimagined the interior and exterior spaces, transforming the vacant shell into a modern, warm, and luxurious veterinary hospital while honoring the building’s century-old charm. Every detail — from the exposed brick and vaulted ceilings to the custom finishes — was thoughtfully designed to create a space that feels both historic and contemporary.

2025

2025

The project was completed in September 2025, marking the official rebirth of this iconic firehouse as Core Vet Animal Hospital. And if you look closely at the front entrance today, you’ll still find the signatures of past firefighters etched into the brick, a timeless reminder of the building’s proud legacy and enduring spirit of service.
